“Having known Tamla for many years, dancing myself and both my daughters having classes from the age of 4 years old I couldn’t recommend a better teacher. Her amazing approach to her students with care and dedication, always striving to get each one to their true potential is such an asset. Tamla is a very skilled fountain of knowledge, who always recognises talent and teaches in such a fantastic way which suits every one of her dancers.”
“My daughter has been dancing at Elliot School of Theatre Dance for 10 years and thoroughly enjoys attending her weekly classes, she has taken Ballet, Tap and Jazz. The highlight is performing in the shows which are inclusive to all students they are professional and well produced by Mrs Gray, however they are great fun for all which I am sure is no mean feat. Mrs Gray is an amazing dance teacher whose encouragement is always positive and nurturing which allows all students to progress in their journey in dance at their own pace. When my daughter decided she would like to aim for a career in dance Mrs Gray offered us both invaluable advice and guidance. If you are looking for a dance school for your child, I highly recommend Mrs Gray and Elliot School of Theatre Dance.”
“Our daughter, Martha, is currently studying for a degree in Contemporary Dance at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds and enjoying every minute of the course.\ Tamla provided guidance and support for Martha, and indeed for ourselves as parents new to the dance world, from when Martha first started dancing at the Elliott school of dance at the age of six. Tamla continued to be a significant supporter of Martha’s progression through Royal Ballet, Northern Ballet, Phoenix Dance and to her successful entry into Northern School of Contemporary Dance in their Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) programme. Throughout Tamla has worked with and encouraged Martha to be the best dancer she can be. During the many years with Tamla, Martha, not only enjoyed classes, achieving several exam passes, but also gained so much from participating in the fantastic shows Tamla organises: from her debut at six as a little (bossy) bug to her last show as Delores in Sister Act. Tamla has been there throughout Martha’s dance journey and we know she will be there again if required.”
“Since our daughter started dancing lessons at the Elliot School of Theatre Dance at the age of two and half she has been greatly inspired by Tamla. Tamla’s passion to inspire young dancers is clear and our daughter is thoroughly enjoying learning dancing skills in Ballet, Tap and Jazz. Our daughter has a strong desire to become a skilled dancer which Tamla inspires, encourages and nurtures. Tamla’s knowledge and experience is evident in all her lessons and the focus on developing strong, healthy dancers with good technique is combined within an enthusiastic and supportive environment in a well-equipped studio. Our daughter loves the opportunities provided for progression and development through exams and experiences of the performance world through shows that showcase the amazing talents of all the dances from beginners to advanced. Our daughter is thoroughly enjoying learning to dance at the Elliot School of Theatre Dance and I know she looks up to Tamla and the advanced dancers with great admiration.Dancing offers our daughter an excellent opportunity to discover new skills, develop and enhance her listening and co-ordination skills, meet new people, exercise and express herself through music, dance and performance.”
“The Elliott School of Dance, under Miss Tamla, is where my daughter's Chloe and Emily first found their love of ballet. They began their dance journey aged just 3. Miss Tamla is a fabulous teacher of dance technique and has a wonderful nature which endears all her students. Miss Tamla encouraged my daughters to audition to ballet school when they each turned nine, both girls with Miss Tamla's training and support gained places on the Centre for Advanced Training programme at the Academy of Northern Ballet, in Leeds. They trained at the Academy alongside Miss Tamla for seven years before graduating and moving to the prestigious Hammond School in Chester. Chloe is about to enter her graduate year of the level 6 Trinity diploma in dance, and Emily begins her training this September. Our family owes so much to the wonderful memories, support and amazing confidence Miss Tamla has given and continues to give throughout Chloe and Emily's dancing journey. I can honestly say she is an amazing person and teacher, and highly recommend the Elliott School of Dance.”
